A figurative painter and a convinced one, even when it was fashionable and whether out of expediency or merit an abstractionist. And so, the reality of Valtellina becomes a universal song of endurance and regret

One aspect that seems not to have not been investigated to any degree of depth is the symbolic power of the objects of Vaninetti's artistic world, things drawn from the daily life of the people of the Valtellina and the Valchiavenna, still commonly to be found even after the 1950s, though they were then viewed as the heritage of poverty, rather than as assets of a millenary culture, as one would say today.
