Vaninetti's demon is a closed door - the purest light of the Valtellina's sun hitting, metaphysically motionless, the chalk-white wall of an old house, whose door of coloured wood remains mysteriously closed, obsessively muted about the inside rooms, a symbol of the inaccessibility of the artist's inner world.
